Teachers, come spend the afternoon of Sunday, May 20th exploring life science with your family. Learn about a fabulous local resource, Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve!
Join us for a tour led by docents from the Amigos de Bolsa Chica and walk along the level 1.5 mile trail to overlook the newly-restored 600 acres which is now receiving sea water for the first time in 108 years.  This is a great opportunity to see the beginnings of a coastal salt marsh, and to enjoy the terns that are arriving from the southern hemisphere for the summer as well as dozens of resident birds.  Native plants should be blooming too.

Do bring your family.  Carpool if you can, as parking is limited.  Bring binoculars, a hat, a light jacket, sunscreen, and water.

We appreciate the support of the Amigos de Bolsa Chica for leading the tour.  Amigos de Bolsa Chica is one of eight groups nationwide who will receive a prestigious honor June 7th by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)  for their work to advance Fish Conservation and Sustainability.
Check out the Amigos de Bolsa Chica website www.amigosdebolsachica.org for more information about this organization.
See http://www.huntingtonbeachevents.com/conserv.html  for more information on the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve.
This link will give you a map of the area.  Zoom out to plot your route to the Ecological Reserve.
We will have a very brief Annual Meeting of the OCSEA to elect officers and Board Members for 2007-2008.
Our tour begins in the South Parking Lot of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, located 1 ½ miles south of Warner at PCH, across from the main entrance to Bolsa Chica State Beach.

For those who are driving on the 405 north, exit the 405 Freeway on Golden West Street and proceed south (left) to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).  Turn right and proceed north on PCH about 1.5 miles.  Go past the first signal (for Bolsa Chica State Beach parking) and make an immediate right into the “Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve” parking lot.
